Winners in Portugal

João Martinho, with a photo of the Carmo Church in Lisbon was the Portuguese winner of Wiki Loves Monuments. The framework, focus, lighting, resolution, absence of distortion and manipulation and composition were the reasons that convinced the jury, consisting of representatives from the Pousadas de Portugal, Fotosport, IGESPAR, Sintra Town Hall and two Wikimedians who gathered this weekend in Sintra to evaluate each of the 16 000 photos from 244 photographers in the competition. Other awards include second and a third place for “Best Photography”, a prize to the best photo of the Pousadas de Portugal and three prizes to the photographers who submitted the largest number of photographs of differents monuments. In the category of “Highest Number of Distinct Monuments” photographed, Frédéric Marie was the winner, who submitted photos for 447 different monuments. All the pictures that have been uploaded can be found on Wikimedia Commons.
